Early on Thursday, Tommy Lee startled the internet by posting a full-frontal, inappropriate for work photo of himself on social media (Aug. 11).
The Motley Crue drummer posted it on his official Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook sites, but the latter two have now taken it down.
According to The Independent, Lee is seen in the picture, which stops at his lower face and upper chest, entirely naked and appears to be relaxing by the side of a bathtub. He captioned the photo, “Ooooopppsss,” showing out his penis in plain view.
By around 8AM ET on Thursday, the image was deleted from Lee’s Instagram account. It’s unclear whether the musician personally erased or hidden it, or if the Facebook-owned photo-sharing social app removed it. It was also taken down from Facebook. It is still accessible on Twitter, which, in contrast to Facebook and Instagram, permits pornography.
According to reports, 1.4 million followers had apparently viewed or commented on the photo on Instagram before it vanished. Brittany Furlan, Lee’s wife, wrote on the post, “OH MY GOD.” Below are additional responses to the drummer’s photograph.
Lee jokedly posted an elephant after the picture was taken down on Facebook and Instagram as a follow-up to the original post.
With Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett, Motley Crue is now on their summer “Stadium Tour” across the United States. Purchase tickets here. At the first performance in June, Lee disclosed that he had broken his ribs and would perform as much as possible with a fill-in covering for him. But later that month, he performed his debut set in its entirety.
