John Dumelo – Biography

The son of Mr. John Dumelo and Mrs. Antionette Dumelo, John Dumelo was born on February 3, 1984.



The third and final boy of three, he is a boy. John completed his elementary education at Christ the King International School in Accra, Ghana, where the GAMA Film Company cast him in the role of a student in the film “Baby Thief.”



He completed his secondary education at Achimota School before continuing his studies in Civil Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Since then, he has been in shows including “Sun City” and “About To Wed.” He appeared in “The Monarch is Mine,” his first film, in 2008 and portrayed the part of a king. He is quickly becoming a household figure in the film industry.



Since then, he has appeared in more than 80 films alongside celebrities including Nadia Buari, Ramsey Noah, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Ini Edo, Jackie Appiah, and Jackie Appiah.



In 2009, he was named Best Ghanaian Actor by Joy FM. For his work in “Heart of Men,” John has received two nominations: one for Africa’s Most Promising Actor by AMMA 2010 and another for Best Actor by Best of Nollywood Awards. At the Afro-Australian Movies and Music Awards in December 2011 in Australia, John was named Africa’s Most Outstanding Actor for the year.



At the 2012 African Entertainment Awards, held in April 2012 in Malaysia, he also took home the Best African Actor Award. He recently worked in Ghana on a Hollywood film with Kimberly Ellis, a famous Hollywood actress. John maintains a modest and humble demeanor despite his popularity:



“You know, some people might get carried away when fame and money knock on their door, causing them lose focus on who they are and where they are coming from.




I want to make every effort to avoid that, he declared. He is a generous philanthropist who uses charity to give back to the community.
